Sales Invoice & Sales Order CSV Add-Ons – 07/11/19

A great new feature!

These are already fantastic Add-Ons for Sage and Sales Invoice CSV has been our most popular Tool over the last 3 Years with Sales Order CSV not that far behind.

We’ve added a field called DELIVERY_DESCRIPTION. To select a delivery address from the customer’s list of delivery addresses enter its description in this column.

As long as it exists, the importer will automatically populate the following fields in the invoice with the data from the selected customer delivery address: DELIVERY_NAME, DEL_ADDRESS_1 through to DEL_ADDRESS_5 and DEF_TAX_CODE.

This feature was again based on customer feedback, you talk, we listen! 😉

Transaction CSV Add-On – 27/09/19

We’ve added some great new features!

This was already a fantastic Add-On for Sage with all it’s features including the import and auto allocation of Sales Receipts & Purchase Payments, but it’s now got even better! These new features were based on customer feedback, so if you talk, we listen!

Adept Sage 50 Transaction CSV Add-On for Sage 50 & 50cloud

The column headings in the first line of the CSV file can now be used to define the fields that the data should be imported into.

This is what we refer to as Field Choosing and it was the only Adept CSV Add-On that didn’t have the feature. The Legacy CSV Format is still available and working if your happy with how your current file looks.

A new Export option will load your CSV template with transactions from your current Audit Trail. Once again, most of our other CSV Add-Ons could do it already so it was about time this Tool did too.

Part of the new Exporting options is a New export only field called TRAN_NUMBER which can be used in a template to include Transaction Numbers in an exported CSV file.

You can now define a default value for any column by adding =Content to the heading row field name, for example TYPE=SI as the heading for a blank column means that all the transactions in the CSV file will be SI transactions.

The final new feature is another New field called HEADER_DETAILS which will allow you to import or export the Header Details field separately from the Split Details field.

We hope you like these new upgrades to the Transaction CSV Add-On!

Upgrading to Sage v26 (2020) – 16/08/19

Is my Adept Add-On compatible with Sage v26?

If your Adept Add-On is mission critical, before doing the next major version upgrade of Sage from “v25 or below to v26” you should check our website first.  There’s two places you can check to see your Add-Ons Sage version compatibility.

On our Category pages for the Add-Ons it can be seen in the top right hand corner of a Tools tile

On the Add-Ons Tool page in the Add-On Compatibility and Pricing Section

We’ve already started work on the upgrades and last year we had the v26 release of our CSV Import & Export Add-Ons out before Sage was! However, don’t take this for granted and please check as we’ve said above. Most of our Adept Add-Ons will be upgraded within 2/4 weeks of Sage v26 being released, with the exception of the Code Changers & Viewer Tools as these take a little longer to do.

Making Tax Digital for VAT – 23/05/19

Are you under the threshold for VAT?

Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTDfV), the new regime for VAT record keeping and VAT return submission is now live. All businesses with a taxable turnover over the £85,000 VAT registration limit come within the new rules with a few exceptions.

What if my business is a voluntary VAT Registration and is under the VAT registration limit?

If your turnover is below the VAT registration limit, you don’t have to enter MTD for VAT. You can carry on filing as you do at present which sounds to me like the HMRC VAT submission portal will still allow us to submit our return directly on the HMRC website. But if you prefer, you can join MTD for VAT voluntarily.

Adept Add-Ons QualiTest Update – 07/05/19

23 Adept Tools were tested in the 5 Days

I say 23, it was actually 20 Add-Ons tested but our Adept Viewer comes in 3 versions, Lite, Mid & Pro so this effectively counts as 3 in my book 😉

The other addition to the total was our Adept Tools Menu which was used by QualiTest to run any of our Add-Ons who’s Icons were not showing on the Sage toolbar due to Sage’s limit of 10.

Here’s the full list of the Sage Approved Certified Solution Add-Ons from our Adept Tools range:

Address CSV | Back to Back Orders | BOM Tools | Company Viewer Lite | Customer CSV | Health Check | INV Header CSV | Multi Location Stock Tool | Order Viewer Pro | Own Part Numbers | POP Header CSV | Price CSV | Product & Account Code Changer | Product CSV | Product Viewer Mid | Purchase Order CSV | Sales Invoice CSV | Sales Order & Invoice Entry | Sales Order CSV | SOP Header CSV | Supplier CSV | Tools Menu | Transaction CSV

Don’t be put off if your looking at one our Add-Ons without the Sage Certified logo, we only had 5 days for Testing and at £2500 a go it’s not a cheap process! Please rest assured that the remaining Adept Tools not tested all have the same quality of code for a simple and effective end user experience.

Adept Sage 50 Transaction CSV – 29/04/19

Transaction CSV v25.0.53 New Features

By popular demand our Adept Sage 50 Transaction CSV now allows you to map the columns of your CSV file by using Sage’s field names in the first row of the CSV file. This new feature brings the Transaction CSV Importer in line with all our other importer products which already have this ability.

Historically this importer was first sold in 2007 to a charity who needed to import the Charity Fund Number. The initial design used the same fixed format CSV layout as Sage’s standard file import with an additional column for the Fund Number. Since then a plethora of new features have been added to the program which has taken the column count to a rather unwieldy 34.

The new feature will make it easier to import CSV files whose columns don’t follow the standard Sage layout. It will also allow you to eliminate columns that are not required.

An additional new feature will allow you to declare a default value for a column by adding =Content to the heading row field name. For example TYPE=SI as the heading for a blank column means that all the transactions in the CSV file will be SI transactions.

Please note that in order to maintain backwards compatibility for existing users these new features have to be turned on by ticking the “Heading row is column field name map” box in the program’s options.

Valid field names can be seen on the image to right. You can see this list within the program by clicking the Menu button and selecting the menu option Fields.

Another day and another update that’s no longer available to download

Have your Sage 50 Accounts v25 Add-Ons stopped working with an error message: “Data files are wrong minor version” ❓ The reason for this is that you server has just auto updated its data services to version 25.1 without telling you.

Sage have pulled this second update from their website which was 25.1.114.0

Our Solution : Download the v25.1 standalone SDO installer from here This ZIP File contains a folder with 4 files. After unzipping, you must run the file called Sage50Accounts_SDO.msi and follow the instructions on screen.

Beating Overzealous Spam Filters – 13/03/19

Adept Add-On emails for Trial Licences going into the spam?

We have recently noticed that some customers have only been receiving 1 of the 2 emails that are sent when they use our online systems to apply for a trial licence. It turns out that the first and most important email is being rejected because it contains a link to the Add-Ons installation .exe file.

To get round this we have changed the first email to point to a modified version of our “Download Again” web page. All you need to do now is just click on the link in the email, a web browser will open and the download will begin.

Data files are wrong minor version – 28/02/19

Have you had the message “Failed to connect to Sage Data – (26) Data files are wrong minor version”

Have your Sage 50 Accounts v25 Add-Ons stopped working with an error message: “Data files are wrong minor version” ❓

The reason for this is that you server has just auto updated its data services to version 25.1 without telling you. It appears that the Sage 50 Client UI v25.0 is happy to connect to to a server running the 25.1 data services. However the v25.0 SDO (used by Sage Add-Ons) fails to connect with the above error message. 🙁

Sage have now pulled this update from their website with a new release date of week commencing Monday 4th March.

Solution : Download the v25.1 standalone SDO installer from here This ZIP File contains a folder with 4 files. After unzipping, you must run the file called Sage50Accounts_SDO.msi and follow the instructions on screen.

Missing Transactions on VAT Returns – 18/02/19

If you are using Sage v23 or v24 you may have an issue with your VAT Return

Sage have identified a small issue in Sage 50 Accounts, but don’t worry they’ve got it covered! If you run your VAT Return up to the period ending March 2019, the transactions for 31 March 2019 are not appearing.

To make sure your calculations are correct when submitting your VAT Return, you’ll shortly receive an automatic update, which Sage recommend you install. Alternatively, you can download and install the update now or follow a manual workaround.

To find out how to do this, click here for v23 and click here for v24

Please note: You need to take action before submitting your return to HMRC if you have transactions dated 31st March 2019.
